This week was great with Dane at Valley Athletics! And one thing that I LOVE about Valley Athletics is how knowledgeable their staff is on not just what it takes to loose weight, but what your body is doing and how to do it effectively.
Tuesday was a lot of learning for me. Dane showed me a lot of different strength training moves and how to properly do them. If I wasn't doing it right, we would stop and he would tell me what to fix and why that form is working or not working. It was great -- we did squats with a bar and weights, bench presses, rows, and a few other moves. This was my first time benching and I'll be honest -- I was a little nervous about it. And we did have to stop to correct my form. But after him explaining everything and how it's all working together really helped and I was able to focus on that rather than how heavy it was.
On Thursday we did more strength. We did squats again and bench presses. Again, I think it really helps get you through the reps when you really focus on your form. If you focus on that rather than how heavy it is or how many reps you have left, it helps it go by faster ;)
We then did rows with the TRX, kettlebell swings, knee tucks with the TRX (those HURT) and then folding chair crunches. The whole time I was really proud of pushing through. I will admit I complained a lot when I had to do the knee tucks, but I know I'm stronger today because of it (and pretty sore).
I can't believe I'm at the end of month 2! BRING ON MONTH 3!
