Brief history
The story of CW 14 begins on June 2nd, 1999, when Acme Communications purchased WXPG (a PAX affiliate.) Acme changed the call letters to WIWB, and made channel 14 the WB affiliate for Northeast Wisconsin.
Acme overhauled the weeknight line-up, bringing in top syndicated comedies such as Everybody Loves Raymond and That ‘70s Show.
WIWB initially branded itself as WB14, and later re-branded as Wisconsin’s WB.
WIWB continued as a WB affiliate until the announcement of the end of the WB and UPN networks. On September 18, 2006, The CW network officially launched, and WIWB became Wisconsin’s CW.
In July of 2010, Acme Communications entered into a shared services agreement with LIN Media for several stations, including WIWB. Under the agreement, WLUK began providing sales and technical services to WIWB.
To showcase the new beginning for the station, the station call letters were changed to WCWF, and the station became CW 14.
In May of 2011, LIN Media purchased CW 14.

In January of 2011, CW 14 began a search for the first CW 14 Star, an on-air personality to represent CW 14 on-air, on the web, and in the community.
After a series of auditions, including input from the community through an online vote, the first CW 14 Star was revealed to be Maria Parmigiani.
The role was initially meant to last for one year, but was extended an additional year.
In January of 2013, CW 14 began an audition process to select a new CW 14 Star. After a variety of events, in March CW 14 announced Katie Phernetton as the new CW 14 Star.
