The WIAA has released the girls soccer brackets for the postseason and no surprise in Division 1 as defending state champion Appleton North received a No. 1 seed.
The Lightning (16-1-1) wasn’t the only Fox Valley Association team to receive a No. 1 seed as Kimberly, which shared the FVA title with North, also is a No. 1 seed. North and Kimberly played to a scoreless tie this season and the only they meet in the postseason would be in the state championship.
Last year, they met in a state semifinal, which North won, 1-0.
North is ranked No. 3 in the state, while Kimberly (14-2-2) is No. 10.
—In Division 2, Seymour and Xavier were awarded No. 1 seeds.
Xavier (18-2-2) is ranked third in the state while the Thunder (20-4) is an honorable mention team.
—In Division 3, top-ranked St. Mary Central (18-1-2) is seeded No. 1.
